Valuas is a real family business with a rich heritage. Growth is, and always will be, at the core of our ambitions. This has already enabled us to look back with pride on the many developments and changes we have been through, as well as cherishing many beautiful and proud moments together.
Marcel and Eric took over their parents’ business in 1998. At first, Marcel started as a chef in the kitchen and Eric started serving tables. However, they were quick to realize that they aspired for more and so Marcel soon became a maître-sommelier and Eric the head chef.
In 2005, their restaurant was awarded a Michelin star, and in 2006 the brasserie was acknowledged with a Bib Gourmand award. Furthermore, they have also launched their own variety of croquettes as well as offering many other services, including external catering.
In 2013, they were awarded the Lodewijk van der Grinten Ondernemersprijs, an award for entrepreneurs from Venlo. The judges recognised them for their great expertise, saying they were “driven, passionate and a textbook example for other entrepreneurs”.
From the summer of 2017, Eric has taken over the business on his own as Marcel has decided to focus fully on his ultimate passion – the wine trade.
It is Eric’s motto to stay positive, look ahead, and bring joy to your work. This motto also captures Valuas’ core principle: a hospitable and fun business which gives the visitor the ultimate feeling of being a very welcome guest.
